Magician Nathan Burton is taking a five-day, jet-set round trip from his headliner show at the Flamingo to appear on the live finale of “China’s Got Talent” in Shanghai. He is the only American invited to be a special guest performer on the Season 3 wrap-up. Season 2’s finale guest performer was Susan Boyle. The British-owned Chinese entertainment reality TV show is on Dragon TV and is hosted by Cheng Lei.

This is Nathan’s first time performing in China; he worked in South Korea for a year before making his home in Las Vegas. He will perform 8 minutes of comedy magic at the World Expo Center during the 4-hour finale of “China’s Got Talent.” As a result, his magic show at Donny & Marie Osmond’s theater in the Flamingo will be closed Jan. 18-22.

Nathan was chosen because of his six guest appearances on “America’s Got Talent”, part of the 39-country “Got Talent” franchise based in Britain. He wowed the judges with “Microwave of Death” and “Steamroller,” where then-judge Piers Morgan exclaimed: “That’s one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen!” Still secret is if his four showgirl assistants will make the flight, too.

Incidentally, his daytime show pal magician Mac King at Harrah’s is off to Rochester, Minn., with Las Vegas magic men Lance Burton, Michael Goudeau and Bob Zany to perform in the National Autism gala fundraiser “Mending Minds” on Jan. 27.

NEW MAGIC THEATER OPENS: British cabaret and magic show producer Paul Stone has crossed the Atlantic to open Vegas Magic Theater at Gold Coast tonight, and “America’s Got Talent” semifinalist Murray Sawchuck, a regular guest on “Pawn Stars,” is the headliner for the first four days.

Paul told me: “I have always felt that a European-styled cabaret show with top-class magicians from around the world with a brand new show every week to keep it fresh was missing in Vegas. Now we’ve put one together to appeal to visitors, locals and families at an affordable price. For an hour before each show, we also have a close-up Magic Lounge to complete the theatrical experience.” Paul produced the London Palladium tribute to Siegfried & Roy in 2008 and Palladium Magic, which celebrated 100 years of British prestidigitation.

No word if Murray will repeat his illusions of vanishing a 1918 steam train locomotive or producing a Ferrari and transforming his assistant into a 450-pound tiger in a locked cage, but he promises the same standing ovations he won from Howie Mandel, Sharon Osbourne and Piers that he earned on the NBC series.
