Oscars gift bag features $9,000 worth of Las Vegas swag

Not everyone can be a winner at tomorrow night’s 2014 Academy Awards ceremony, but none of the nominees will go home empty-handed, thanks to Distinctive Assets’ legendary swag bag.

This year’s gift bag is valued at about $85,000, but it’s not all Swiss watches ($290) and Hawaiian vacations ($2,000)—though those are included, too. The lineup features things like the drain wig (a flower-shaped drain protector that catches hair), dry-cleaning bags and fancy pet food (because, well, Oscar noms have fancy pets, of course). And the 2014 giveaways also include a package called the Best of Las Vegas—valued at $9,000—with gift certificates for a wide array of local treats and entertainment, like tickets and a meet ‘n’ greet with Boyz II Men at the Mirage ($350), a dozen cupcakes from the Cupcakery ($48), $100 to Honey Salt and a pair of tickets to Chippendales, with a 2014 calendar thrown in for good measure ($140). In all, the Vegas vacation package includes more than 20 different items and experiences around the city, so if you see Chiwetel Ejiofor at Rose. Rabbit. Lie., Judi Dench having breakfast at Hash House A Go Go or Jennifer Lawrence hanging at Piero’s during Pia Zadora’s show, well, you’ll know they’re putting their hard-earned swag to good use.

  • Not all of them can feature beloved characters like Buddy the Elf and the toys of Toy Story.

  • Over-the-top camp or disturbing psychological thriller? The movie never succeeds at either.

  • Mockingjay - Part 1 sets the stage for a more satisfying finale to the series.
