What’s a champion boxer to do after scoring yet another victory in the ring? No, not go to Disneyland. If you’re Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao, who handily defeated “Sugar” Shane Mosley in front of a sold-out crowd at MGM Grand Garden Arena last night, you sing to your fans.
Pacquiao did just that at the Official Manny Pacquiao After-Fight Party hosted by -- who else? -- Pacquiao and featuring The MP Band. Tom Donoghue was on duty for this fantastic photo gallery and provided the following report:
His wife Jinkee and he arrived around 12:30 a.m. He went onstage with his band around 1 a.m. and sang more than 15 songs, much to the delight of thousands of fans and finished up about 3 a.m. Dan Hill and he nailed their duet “Sometimes When We Touch,” with many in the crowd teary-eyed.
Donoghue was with Pacquiao, his wife and Hill before they went onstage and captured a few private moments with the eight-time champion boxer, including rehearsing before hitting the stage.
“When I took the photo of Manny and his wife, I commented that they look like they are in love. He told me, ‘I have fallin’ in love with my wife three times, and when I sing, it is from my heart to hers,’ ” Donoghue said.
Uber producer David Foster and his family stopped by to hear Pacquiao perform, and Donoghue snapped a few photographs of the special guest. Perhaps he was recruiting for his next David Foster & Friends that has been recorded here in recent years?
Check out the in-depth coverage of fight night by the Las Vegas Sun. Congratulations to Pacquiao on his win -- and to both boxers for conducting themselves like true champions and role models.
