Music rules this weekend in the Entertainment Capital of the World with the wide-ranging sounds of Kelly Clarkson, Barenaked Ladies, the Fray, Cracker, Busta Rhymes, Carolina Liar, Yanni and Pia Zadora among the offerings.

For the horn dogs out there, there’s a Playboy Playmate in town, while the gorgeous women (and men) of “Donn Arden’s Jubilee!”, the longest-running show on the Strip, turns the Big 3-1 on Monday. As Clarkson croons, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,” so without further ado, stand a little taller and have a fabulous weekend because here is this weekend’s Royal Robin Rundown:

FRIDAY, JULY 27

MUSIC

Grammy and “American Idol” Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson -- do you remember who she defeated? (answer below) -- the Fray and Carolina Liar perform at Chelsea Ballroom in the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Be sure to check out Mark Adams’ terrific interview with Chad Wolf of Carolina Liar.

Billy Gardell is at Orleans Showroom for two nights; Edwin San Juan is at Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo Cantina at Planet Hollywood all weekend; Gary Valentine is at the Improv at Harrah’s all weekend; and Greg Proops is at Empire Comedy in the Paris for two nights.

Luxor headliner and “Believe” star Criss Angel hosts a meet-and-greet after his 9:30 p.m. show at the Luxor; the Gay and Lesbian Center of Southern Nevada hosts ARTrageous Vegas at the Cosmopolitan; and Hooters Casinos celebrates the 1980s with a 2012 Fiat giveaway.
