Charles and Ahmad Earland are sons of 60’s jazz organist Charles "the Mighty Burner" Earland. Ahmad has been playing drums for a countless number of years. When Ahmad moved to Las Vegas several years after Charles from their native city of New York, they decided to join forces on a musical venture of their own. Charles had been in Las Vegas for 6 years and was inspired by the rise of his friend Brandon Flower’s band, The Killers, to almost overnight stardom. Charles asked Dell Star, a long time friend and original bass player for The Killers, to come by one night and check out the project. Dell was a perfect fit and immediately joined up with the brothers. PJ, new to Las Vegas but not to music, answered an ad on MySpace like several other guitarists around town that did not make the grade. Charles, Ahmad and Dell were skeptical since PJ was the only guitar player that showed up to the audition without his guitar! He was auditioning Lips Like Morphine! He was asked to come back a second time, this time with a guitar, and that’s all she wrote! Synth and keyboard play a major role in the Lips Like Morphine sound. However, finding the right musician to fill those shoes wasn’t an easy task... Until Dell found out co-worker Chris Lash was a classically trained pianist and a musical director at UNLV Theatre Dept...Band Complete!
