Give Heidi Montag a break

I am sick and tired of people making negative comments about Heidi Montag’s appearance and character. First of all, you shouldn’t make fun of somebody for her appearance. Second of all, you shouldn’t judge a girl based on her looks.

(Didn’t we learn those lessons in kindergarten?)

And third of all, Heidi is attractive. It’s like The Emperor’s New Clothes, but in reverse: Everybody is afraid to say how good Heidi looks because they’re afraid of looking shallow.

Or maybe it’s something deeper. Maybe we so badly want to believe that Heidi doesn’t look good (because it would make the rest of us ugly by comparison) that we’ve convinced ourselves that she's physically unattractive. Either way, the media needs to stop ripping on this poor girl. Anybody who’d have 10 surgeries at 23 is a probably a little insecure to begin with. So, yeah, let’s all lay off the girl's looks for a season.

I agree. She's hot and no one wants to admit it.
But nobody gives Holly Madison half as much sh*t for the same amount of surgery. What's that about?

Good point, Justice_4_all. Holly doesn't have the sometimes-abrasive personality of Heidi--maybe that's it. I mean, Heidi's in a tough spot, where she kinda got famous for being a bad girl, so she (understandably) ran with it. And Holly got famous from being sweet. So maybe it's the combination of Heidi's (character's) personality and her appearance?

As for the amounts, Holly says she's had 2, Heidi had 10 at once (plus some earlier ones), so, if you believe Holly (as I do), then there is a 600% differnece....

Also, I think Holly is much more attractive than Heidi... :)

Related: why have I not met Holly yet? She seems like such a cool person. Let's make it happen, Holly!

No clue who she is (except for a reference in a Robot Chicken episode), but she looks hot

Lol....Ted, I bet you just made so many people so happy by saying you didn't know who she is. And man, that's crazy that you remember small references from RC, but haven't heard of the girl otherwise. You must be the most particular pop culture consumer ever. Or maybe it's me: during a staff meeting at the Weekly this week, I surprised a lot of people by not knowing who Brandon Flowers is...

haha, I don't watch reality tv so I am clueless when it comes to reality "stars". I know of some mostly because of ads in Las Vegas Weekly promoting an appearance by them at a club or something and from articles like this. You are not alone, I do not know who Brandon Flowers is either lol.

Nice! I'm so excited to tell everyone at the office that I'm not the only one! He's the lead singer of "The Killers" who I've definitely heard of...but couldn't name any of their songs.

What's your favorite Adult Swim show?

I need a book recommendation Laxy. Should I purchase Lauren "L.C." Conrad's book L.A. Candy? Since your knowledge of books is so (self-proclaimed) expansive I figured you'd be the perfect go to guy. So yay or nay? I like gossipy reality TV stuff, but I mean, it really doesn't matter what I like, what's important is if you liked the book because we will have identical tastes (since you've read so many books [yet still screw up the usage of who and whom...]). So lay it on me; should I plunk down $15?

It's not that she's unattractive...it's that we all know what she used to look like, and her surgeries erased all personality or distinction from her face, leaving her with a blank, computerized, unsettling post-surgery appearance. Maybe she's "hotter," but for my money, a face needs some character and intelligence to be beautiful.

Haha awesome

My favorite Adult Swim shows are probably Robot Chicken and Superjail

PD, just whom do you think you are?

Good point, Sharon, the before/after is probably a factor. But I wonder if when we say a face has "character" or "intelligence" we're projecting...I wonder if we judge a person's character and intelligence first, and then say that a person's face exhibits those qualities... People HATED Heidi long before the surgeries...
