Pier 1 has problems

By Rick Lax

Just what you've always wanted, a giant letter "Q."

Last week, I went wedding gift shopping at Pier 1 on Charleston. Here are some thoughts on what I saw:

-This discount shelf was filled with individual letter plaques. Mostly “Q”s “U”s and “X”s.

Really, Pier 1? You couldn’t foresee that these wouldn’t be big sellers?

An obvious case when more does not mean better.

-In many cases, more is better. But not when it comes to playing cards.

I don’t think you’re going to win anyone over by advertising a deck of cards as having “56 Pieces.” Are you including the card box and plastic wrapping as two pieces? Did you stick in two extra jokers? Either way, I’m unimpressed.

Everyone needs a glass head of their own.

-These things are awesome.

I bought one as a wedding gift for my magician friends Mistie and Tyler…but now I’m getting jealous and wishing I bought one for myself, too.

What would I do with it? What wouldn’t I do with it!

this was...dumb.

Next time...
