A bedeviling moment at Terrible Herbst’s
This morning I had the oil changed in my Mazda 6, which I sometimes call the KatMobile but never to its face, at one of the Las Vegas Valley’s 1,200 Terrible Herbst locations. Kats' stray notes: Before the visit to the lube shop, I was on the rack for my biweekly appearance on Fox 5’s “More” show. Co-anchor Rachel Smith, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, complained to me about not being mentioned in the blog, so there it is. … Also this morning, Fox weatherman Ted Pretty was ambling around the hall in an aqua-colored Spandex getup as part of a Cirque du Soleil promotional photo shot. The fashion forecast: Unfair and partly sunny. ... If you’re interested in being railroaded (I mean, railroads) and Las Vegas history, hit the Friends of Classic Las Vegas panel discussion at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Las Vegas Springs Preserve's Desert Learning Center. The topic will be the building of the Union Pacific railroad through Las Vegas, and the cottages the railroad constructed for workers that were among the first residences the region. Donna Andress, Eileen Fitzerald Carson, Gail Andress will be on hand. The Cost is $12, go to the Friends of Classic Las Vegas Web site for more info. It’s a great group that meets monthly. ...
