Last week we caught up with longtime pal Wayne Newton at the MGM Grand as he closed out his latest run at the Hollywood Theatre. Now we find, in a late-night scan of the Web-ster, that The Wayner is in some sort of financial dispute with a former member of his employ. This blog by Eriq Gardner of The Hollywood Reporter reports a rift between the entertainer and former employee Monty Ward. In question is $450,000 Ward says he is owed (and a court that ruled for Ward reportedly agrees). The story states that Ward attempted to garnish Newton’s $33,000 payment from the hotel (he missed one show because of illness and did undergo oral surgery during his last stint at the Hollywood Theatre). Consequently, the MGM has filed suit against both parties in U.S. District Court requesting an interpleader. It looks like an issue that needs to be resolved, pronto.
