Donny Osmond — King of All Media?
A star on the Las Vegas Strip stage with his sister, Marie, and the reigning champion with partner Kym Johnson of the ABC competition show Dancing With the Stars, the 52-year-old Osmond is helming a new radio show. Fittingly, the program is called, The Donny Osmond Show and Osmond is expected to unspool "adult contemporary" selections. A news release says the Osmond show is aimed at a predominantly female audience, because market research indicates females respond to the adult contemporary format, and also because females respond to Donny Osmond.
The show debuts Jan. 18 and airs weekdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. as a new program owned by Citadel Media radio syndication network. No Las Vegas affiliate has been announced among the 60 stations carrying the show yet.
Osmond says he's taking advantage of an uptick in popularity following his triumph on DWTS.
"I've been up and down for the last 47 years. Up's better, let me tell you," Osmond is quoted in an Associated Press story. "It is a roller coaster ride and you're not up all the time, and when you are up you ride that wave and hopefully you're enjoying that wave, because I'm certainly enjoying this one."
