No wrapping (or rapping) on Matt Goss’s holiday gift

The message is a cool mix of modern technology and classic holiday sentiment.
It starts as a text. It ends as a black-and-white, Hallmark-esque holiday card showing a dapper dude leaning wistfully on a light pole as snow dusts the street and sidewalk behind.
Playing in the background, fittingly, is “White Christmas.”
This Gossian morsel of wintry cheer was passed along Monday afternoon by that Santa of Swagger, Matt Goss. It is more than just a text message. The link takes you to a free music download, a gift to his friends and fans, of him singing the holiday treasure. Very cool stuff, which you can enjoy yourself.
There is no charge, trust me.
Goss is taking time off over the holidays beginning Saturday so he can spend time with his family, then is back onstage Jan. 7 at the Gossy Room at Cleopatra’s Barge at Caesars Palace. His first significant order of business in 2012 will be the springtime release of his new album, produced by contemporary music firebrand Ron Fair.
Goss is charged up about the release, the working title of which is “Midnight Conversations.” The name might change, but Goss’s enthusiasm for the CD will not.
“It’s really, really blowing my mind, what we’re doing right now,” Goss said in a phone conversation this afternoon. “I’ve never heard Ron more excited.”
And if you have ever been around the ever-impassioned Ron Fair, that is not an insignificant claim. Can’t wait to hear it. But at the moment, hep cats, it’s a white Christmas.
