Fifteen years after Mike Tyson gnawed Evander Holyfield’s ear at MGM Grand, the two are joking on Twitter about the incident. At the center of the exchange is a new condiment being marketed by Holyfield.

The back-and-forth between the two fanned out in a series of tweets on Friday. From his @Holyfield Twitter page, Holyfield posted, “My Real Deal BBQ Sauce will make u wanna take a bite out of someone's ear! Ask @MikeTyson -- Luv ya bro!”

Tyson countered with, “@holyfield's ear would've been much better with his new BBQ sauce. Check it out RealDealBBQSauce.com.”

Holyfield got in another shot with a video link: “Check out Real Deal BBQ Sauce video! U won't believe what this sauce can actually go on besides ears!”

Holyfield’s daughter Evette made a cameo in the exchange, when her father shared, “My daughter @EvetteHolyfield just joked w me and called me "The Real Meal Holyfield! She said this is my new name, LOL.”

Tyson and Holyfield have been volleying Twitter updates for months. In February, Tyson posted a photo of the two from 1987, something both former fighters tweeted about to great delight. Holyfield was in the audience for Tyson’s one-man show at MGM Grand’s Hollywood Theater in April and has endorsed (also on Twitter) Tyson’s upcoming August performances atLongacre Theater on Broadway.

The six shows seem an ideal opportunity for some product placement.
