The date for “Rock of Ages” to move into the Blue Man Group theater at the Palazzo is coming into focus. BASE Entertainment CEO Scott Zeiger said this week the show will be in place before the end of the year, but after the Thanksgiving holiday.
So, to summon carnival souvenir hawker Navin Johnson: That’s between Pearl Harbor Day and New Year’s Eve. Between the second week of the National Finals Rodeo and Christmas Eve. In that general area, between the start of the second week of December and the end of the third week in December. Right in there.
Most important, as Zeiger says, “The plan is to be in performance by the Christmas holidays.” The exact date hinges on modifications to the theater, which was specifically designed to meet the unique needs of Blue Man Group. The backstage area in particular has to be changed around, as it was designed as something of an active workshop for BMG.
“There is substantial work that needs to be done, and that work will begin immediately,” Zeiger says. Blue Man Group’s final show at the Palazzo is Sept. 30. Its first show at the Monte Carlo is scheduled for Oct. 10.
