Sex museum exhibits are lust in time

By Robin Leach

In any other city there would be the angry placards protesting its arrival -- but at most expect a blush from upright citizens of our valley when the worlds first erotic sex museum opens tomorrow (Saturday).

Believe it or not, it has all been assembled by a lady! Laura Henkel, the curator from San Francisco, holds a doctorate in human sexuality. She says that even if the sex was removed her exhibits would still be fun -- but not for the family! She says serious artists and collectors will come from all over the world to view the world’s finest collection of sexual materials.

Laura admits that the exhibits will disgust some folks, but others will love them and feel they are even tame by some standards. She plans to rotate the exhibits every six months.

Harry Mohney’s 24,000-square-foott adult playpen of erotica will celebrate the American Sexual Revolution -- and if attendees feel the urge they can marry or renew their bows in a “really blushing B-ride” erotic wedding chapel. Seventy years of adult movies that date back to 1915 through to the 70’s will run round-the-clock on 48 monitors and for “darker moments,” there’s an exclusive exhibit of mechanical bondage toys “direct from the dungeon,” including floor-cuffs and rotating wheels that must have been transformed from the carts of our earliest settlers!

In addition, there are sexy sculptures, vivid videos, decadent drawings, pornographic paintings, photos and posters that leave “nothing to the imagination,” along with a fully stocked sex library and an erotic comic book section. Items come from as far afield as Europe and China.

The museum also has replicas of adult-movie locations and peep-show booths staffed by models disrobing from their clothes. You can find it alongside the Déjà Vu Showgirls adult entertainment club on Desert Inn Road – a strip chain founded by Harry Mohney, who as grand patron donated the building for the museum -- which explains why its named after him. Admission is just $15, and half-off for us locals!
