Strip scribbles: Sightings, impromptu performances
By Robin Leach
* It was the first sighting in Vegas of 24 star Kiefer Sutherland since his recent release from jail in Los Angeles following a DUI accident. He joined the "Bad Boys of Hockey," who have been in town with Jerry Bruckheimer and Alan Thicke for their annual ice games. They were all hanging at the Hard Rock party that Body English nightclub hosted for them, along with NHL players and Cuba Gooding Jr. In the meantime, Carey Hart’s Wasted Space rock lounge hosted Vince Neil’s afterparty from the Motley Crue concert, with both John Dolmayan, from System of a Down, and Davey Havok, lead singer of AFI and Blaqk Audio, jumping on stage for impromptu performances to the delight of crazed fans. All the alternative rockers from AFI returned the following night to perform again -- and dragged two people from the crowd on stage to rock along with them as they performed David Bowie’s hit, "Ziggy Stardust."
* Retired boxing champ Floyd Mayweather is still the winner by a knockout when he goes out on the town. At Tryst nightclub at the Wynn Las Vegas, he won a superstar welcome from the gorgeous cocktail servers who lit up his table with dozens of sparklers! In his group were UFC president Dana White, former champion Lennox Lewis, personality Robert Mazza and poker prince Chris Ferguson. Watching all the action with his own large group of friends, including his sister, Kimberly, was Venetian headliner Wayne Brady. Dana wouldn’t call it an early night and wound up pre-dawn at Drai’s Afterhours at Bill's Gamblin' Hall, where former Criss Angel galpal Giselle Diaz was partying up a-plenty!
* Vegas played host for five days to the world hip-hop dance championships. Events were staged out at Lake Las Vegas and Planet Hollywood. Rap royal MC Hammer was on hand for the dances, and photographer Erik Kabik captured all the amazing, athletic action and exuberant energy of the free-form stars. You can click here for the stunning video of the events.
* Star surveillance: It was a first-time visit for Buffy the Vampire Slayer actor David Boreanaz to the Playboy Club at the Palms. He brought six friends in tow and ordered up Ketel One and Jager shots. The actor, who has played Seeley Booth on Bones since the fall of 2005, talked happily with fans and even signed autographs ... Martha Stewart Living Radio’s Whatever girls, daughter Alexis Stewart and Jennifer Koppelman Hutt, spent a week broadcasting their Sirius Satellite Radio show from the Shoppes at the Palazzo ... The titan of twist and shout, Chubby Checker, was up at the Rampart Casino in our Summerlin suburbs ... Keisha Knight Pulliam, who played Rudy on The Cosby Show, was part of a group of 20 celebrating a girlfriend’s bachelorette party, enjoying mod-Mex cuisine at Dos Caminos at the Palazzo.
