Strip Scribbles: Jewell & Ty tie the knot, hit Pure sister club in Bahamas

It was Island fever at Pure’s sister club, Aura in the Bahamas with multitalented singer-songwriter Jewel and her brand-newlywed husband, Ty Murray. They’d eloped in the Caribbean just a night earlier, and celebrated the surprise wedding in style. Although they were inseparable, they did take time to stop by the DJ booth and greet fans.

Also spotted at Pure was John Dolmayan, drummer for rock band System of a Down, comic book artist Jim Lee, NBA player Kelenne Azubuike of the Golden State Warriors, and Mario Barth of the famous Starlight Tattoo …

America’s Next Top Model Season 8 winner Jaslene Gonzalez hosted a fashion-filled night at the Strip’s newest nightclub, Christian Audigier at TI, complete with a chic Christian Audigier fashion showcase ...

The Hard Rock Hotel played host to a number of celebrities and musicians and The Joint was abuzz as Prince watched Latin singer and songwriter Julieta Venegas perform. The one-named rock royal later checked into a VIP Hard Rock suite … Inside Carey Hart’s new rock lounge Wasted Space, Richie Sambora, lead guitarist of Bon Jovi, partied at one table, Heather Rene Smith, Playboy’s February 2007 Playmate partied with two U.S. Marines at another … Actor Steve Schirripa was also there with actor- comedians Jon Lovitz and Richard Belzer. The trio checked out Wasted Space and later joined friends inside Ago for drinks.

Caesars Palace headliner Bette Midler's opened the new $500-million Harrah’s Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind. -- just 20 minutes from Chicago. The festivities caused her premiere performance in the new Venure theater there 30 minutes fashionably late. 

"It's great to be at the Horseshoe, Hammond's premier floatation device," Midler said. Among the VIPs attending were American Pie actress Tara Reid, who sipped on a Diet Coke and vodka during the concert, and actor Matthew Modine, who was eager to see, "The space that Jack Binion built." 

Modine just completed the new Sex & Sin City TV movie to air next month on cable's Lifetime Movie Network. He portrays Jack's brother, Ted Binion.

 "The Binion family really is everything that represents gambling and Las Vegas, and look around you, this place proves it," Modine said. "Marcia Gay Harden plays the Binion brothers' sister and it's a great story of what can happen to a family with too much money.”
