Strip Scribbles: Jewell & Ty tie the knot, hit Pure sister club in Bahamas

It was Island fever at Pure’s sister club, Aura in the Bahamas with multitalented singer-songwriter Jewel and her brand-newlywed husband, Ty Murray. They’d eloped in the Caribbean just a night earlier, and celebrated the surprise wedding in style. Although they were inseparable, they did take time to stop by the DJ booth and greet fans.

Caesars Palace headliner Bette Midler's opened the new $500-million Harrah’s Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind. -- just 20 minutes from Chicago. The festivities caused her premiere performance in the new Venure theater there 30 minutes fashionably late. 

"It's great to be at the Horseshoe, Hammond's premier floatation device," Midler said. Among the VIPs attending were American Pie actress Tara Reid, who sipped on a Diet Coke and vodka during the concert, and actor Matthew Modine, who was eager to see, "The space that Jack Binion built." 

Modine just completed the new Sex & Sin City TV movie to air next month on cable's Lifetime Movie Network. He portrays Jack's brother, Ted Binion.

 "The Binion family really is everything that represents gambling and Las Vegas, and look around you, this place proves it," Modine said. "Marcia Gay Harden plays the Binion brothers' sister and it's a great story of what can happen to a family with too much money.”
