Tens of thousands of fashion industry folk arrived over the weekend for the four-day fall festival known as MAGIC, one of the twice- annual visits here that rank it in our top five convention business boosters. The glitz, glamour and excitement starts today (Monday) and runs through Thursday, headquartered at both the Las Vegas Convention Center and at the Hilton, with events also being staged at nightclubs and other resorts up and down the Strip. Not only can you expect all the big designer names to attend but also a whole host of celebrities who have their own clothing lines.

Everything from store designer, contemporary streetwear, casual, active clothing collections, footwear and accessories will be on display as the world’s best. Literally thousands of American exhibitors will also represent women’s sportswear, lingerie and fashion categories showcasing the newest to an unrivaled number of buyers from around the world. There are almost 1000 exhibitors just for kids wear! The apparel sourcing and fabric portion has more than 750 companies from over 30 countries in the exhibits and swimwear grabs another 250 of the world’s leading fashion and design companies.

The spotlight this visit turns on S.L.A.T.E. –- a focus on the eclectic and sophisticated brands that originated in the skate, surf and street communities that have slipped into the mainstream powered by attitude from hipsters, musicians and artists.

Luxe Life will monitor the celebrity presentations and parties for all four nights and it all kicks off this evening (Monday). Tattooed drummer Travis Barker has his Famous Stars and Straps fashion line host a MAGIC convention party at Jet nightclub in The Mirage, hot Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier has booked Curtis Mayfield (aka Snoop Dogg) for his Caesars Palace private fashion showcase and party -– (just too large a crowd to throw at his TI nightclub) -- while Revolution Mother and Boss Martians entertain at the Lucky 13 Apparel MAGIC after-party at VooDoo Lounge in the Rio.
