Strip Scribbles: Hannah heart-throb, Ozzy rocks Vegas
By Robin Leach
*Official congratulations to Jenna Jameson and Tito Ortiz on the baby news we broke here at Luxe Life yesterday. (Click here for the full story in case you missed our breaking news report). Jenna says once she’s rested and in good shape she’ll proudly show the baby-bump here in Vegas but most of the time she’ll rest at their beachfront home in California until the big-day!
*Don’t think that Miley Cirus gets all the attention on Disney’s Hannah Montana smash hit series. Young Mitchel Musso, who plays Oliver on the show, also has a huge heart-throb following. This afternoon starting at 3 p.m. he's having patients and parents all a-dither at our Sunrise Childrens’ Hospital when he launches the nationwide "clean hands are cool hands" back-to-school campaign. He’ll lead a series of interactive hand-washing demonstrations and show the children being treated at the hospital how to finger-paint, and then scavenger hunt for germs to show them under a microscope what happens when they don’t wash their hands! The Hospital Corporation of America is sponsoring the campaign to prevent the spread of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus, which last year caused 19,000 deaths.
*A new mixed martial arts event with billionaire real estate mogul Donald Trump as official promoter has an unusual attraction included for the Oct. 11 premiere showcase at our Thomas & Mack Center. "The Donald" has booked heavy metal shock legend Ozzy Osbourne to perform live at Affliction Entertainment’s Day of Reckoning between heavyweights Josh Barnett and Andrei Arlovski. Other fights on the card include Vegas hometown hero Roy Nelson fighting Paul Buentello, Mike Pyle against Jason High and Int’l Fight League heavyweights Vladimir Matyushenko vs. Antonio Nogueira. One wonders if Ozzy will create more havoc and mayhem than the muscle men?
*Vegas has several connections to the new cast of the next Dancing With the Stars series that will premiere Sept. 22 on ABC. Our beloved former Flamingo headliner and hometown heroine Toni Braxton will trip the light fantastic with Vegas nightclub regulars Kim Kardashian and Lance Bass, and savage funnyman Jeffrey Ross, who regularly appears here. Also cutting the rug will be daytime soap opera star Susan Lucci, Beijing Olympics women's beach volleyball gold medal winner Misty May-Treanor, longtime actress Cloris Leachman, Loveboat’s Ted McGinley, E! Entertainment Wild On host Brooke Burke, NFL champ Warren Sapp, Olympic star Maurice Greene, who won two gold medals in track at the 2000 games in Sydney, chef Rocco DiSpirito and Cody Linley of Hannah Montana. On the last Dancing with the Stars our magical Rio headliner, Penn Jillette, was the third star-dancer to be eliminated.

*The owners of the hot Tao Asian-themed restaurant and nightclub at the Venetian quietly have opened their newest nightlife offering, LAVO, at the neighboring Palazzo resort. If the star power in the first two days is any indication, then you can expect this new restaurant and club when it's officially opened next month to be yet another celebrity success story.
On the first night, Owen Wilson and Kevin Federline both stopped in for supper and a tour. On the second night, actress Hilary Duff dropped by for dinner with boyfriend Michael Comrie and was so impressed she promised to return for her 21st birthday next month when she can legally enter the nightclub. Also there were O.C. and Gossip Girl creator Josh Schwartz celebrating his bachelor party with Adam Brody and Bret Harrison, star of the CW’s Reaper series, plus L.A. Clipper Cuttino Mobley, poker pro Phil Ivey and our hometown hero Paul Pierce of the NBA's Boston Celtics team -- with 15 gorgeous girls in his entourage!
Meanwhile, next door back at Tao, former Felicity actor Scott Speedman dined on Chilean sea bass lobster wontons and assorted sushi platters while actress party-girl Tara Reid and friends took over the owner’s cabana for the Sunset Sessions festivities at Tao Beach.
*VH1’s sexy Rock of Love 2 star Ambre Lake was the center of attention when she partied at Jet nightclub in the Mirage.
The Alabama blond beauty won Poison singer Bret Michael’s love when in the finale she revealed -- and showed him -- that she wasn’t wearing underwear for their on-camera love decision! That clinched the deal but it didn’t last long and Bret is now auditioning several other Vegas beauties for his next search, including a sexy blond Hooters bartender and a local aspiring singer. The next series features the girls "seeking love" with Bret on his tour bus during a 30-day road trip for Poison concerts.

*Our favorite and original star chef, Wolfgang Puck, has just opened his new Jai Asian fusion restaurant in the La Jolla Playhouse near San Diego and it was an instant hit this weekend with all the Vegas customers who have second homes there to escape the desert heat. Wolf spent the entire week in the kitchen there to ready the big opening.
*A final wicked whisper ... Insiders say that Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria is pregnant and that the "magic moment" was thanks to the recent honeymoon-styled weekend visit to Vegas with basketball star husband Tony Parker. They were married last July in France. The 33-year-old actress was scouting locations here for the second of her new Tex-Mex restaurants, Beso (that’s Spanish for kiss) she recently opened in Los Angeles. Housewives creator Marc Cherry has confirmed the couple had been "desperately trying to get pregnant."
*So where was the first stop for returning Olympic gold medal winners Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul from Team USA basketball? Last night the star players got thunderous applause as they walked into N9NE Steakhouse at the Palms, where chef Barry Dakake served up his own prize-winning hearty steak dinner for them. Before they left, both players went back into Barry's kitchen office to sign their autographs on his famed celebrity door and on his memorabilia collection. (Click here for our photo report from Beijing of the Team USA victory over Spain at the weekend) Said Barry: "The guys literally had just gotten off the plane from China in L.A. and wanted to come to Vegas to celebrate. It was a very thrilling experience for me."

Now don't think that Carmelo and Chris ordered up magnum of champagnes to celebrate their big win! They stuck simply to ginger ale to go with their dinners. Carmelo had two orders of the signature rock shrimp, along with a dover sole, creamed spinach and a mac and cheese! Chris started with the fresh Maine lobster bisque and then polished off his surf and turf with lobster mashed potatoes.
