As promised, here are the sights, sounds and action of the second night of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo at the Thomas & Mack Center. Country singer Jake Owen opened the evening’s excitement with his hit “8 Second Ride,” after entertainer Suzie Dobbs sang the national anthem for the crowd of 17,319.

Our contributing photographer Tom Donoghue was behind the lens last night, inside the arena on the dirt floor, to capture these exclusive and extraordinary shots. He plans to be up close and in the thick of all the thrills and spills until the rodeo wraps up next Saturday night with the winners of the $5.5 million prize purse.

National Finals Rodeo 2008: Day 2

Today, Tom will be covering the Miss Rodeo America pageant finals at The Orleans, and we’ll add those photos of the winner and her coronation this afternoon.

Over the course of the 10 days of competition with the bulls and broncos, our great editors John Katsilometes and Don Chareunsy will assemble an ever-increasing souvenir photo album of this year’s 50th anniversary celebrations. You’ll find that in our Photo File after we’ve added each day’s updated coverage on our main Vegas DeLuxe news page.
