The sports books all said he’d win, but right from the opening bell, Oscar de la Hoya was overwhelmed by his Filipino challenger Manny Pacquiao.

Before the ninth round, Oscar had taken as much devastating punishment as possible -- and called it quits! The boxer and fight promoter was taken to a hospital after the MGM Grand battle of the champions.

Now this morning after the TKO, it looks as if Oscar might hang up his gloves. He’d hoped to fight through next year, but even he admits now that seems unlikely.

Our contributing photographer Erik Kabik was both ringside and in the rafters last night and captured these great photos for Vegas DeLuxe. Several Hollywood celebrities, including Russell Crowe, Eva Longoria Parker, Marc Anthony and Mario Lopez, along with Mike Tyson, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, attorney Robert Shapiro and our Palms resort casino boss George Maloof were among the boxing fans last night.
