It’s slightly remarkable that mainstream Hollywood would tackle the online Internet adult entertainment industry as subject material for a major movie. It’s more remarkable that veteran actor James Caan would join with Luke Wilson, Giovanni Ribisi and Gabriel Macht for the shoot. It’s not remarkable, however, that the filmmakers of Middle Men would pick Las Vegas as the backdrop!

The stars arrived over the weekend to get settled here for the location shoots, and I met up with my old friend James over dinner at the new Lavo restaurant in the Palazzo. As a keen supporter of our annual CineVegas Film Festival, he told me that he’s pleased Vegas is featured in the production.

Filming gets underway today on the sex on the Internet story. The synopsis I received says the story centers on legitimate businessman Jack Harris (Luke Wilson) who sees our generation’s Gold Rush thanks to the online sex industry.

He creates the first online billing company dealing exclusively with porn, and his simple business model quickly becomes an empire -- but everybody wants a piece of the multi-million dollar action. He gets caught up with starlets, con men, Russian mobsters, federal agents and international terrorists while trying to hold on to his marriage and family life!

Evening filming starts at 7:30 p.m. at the first Vegas location: the Hard Rock Hotel. There will be a 30-minute press call for photographers at the resort’s front entrance, which fans can watch, and then the set is cleared for the camera call to action!
