Gerry McCambridge is ‘a nice success story about talent’

When The Mentalist Gerry McCambridge gambled on a Las Vegas stay, he was booked as an unknown at Rampart with only a three-week contract. His extraordinary abilities, later seen on NBC’s The Mentalist with Criss Angel, were a smash hit, and it turned into a 49-week run.
Then he grabbed the opportunity to headline at the Stardust, and when that was imploded, Gerry started his own ShowTickets4Locals.com Web site, which now has 37,000 members. He landed a three-night-a-week string of appearances at Hooters, which grew to four, then five and now six nights a week.
To commemorate his 500th Vegas performance, Hooters head honcho Gary Gregg presented Gerry with a diamond Rolex watch. Now that gravel-voiced comic Bobby Slayton has decided not to renew his contract in March, Gerry gets a double-duty assignment. First he’ll stand in for Bobby from now through Jan. 7, and then in March he’ll take the two nightly shows permanently.
It’s quite a success story, and everybody from fellow magicians David Copperfield, Criss Angel, Nathan Burton, Mac King and Steve Wyrick have been in to watch his amazing act. Even my pal cutting-edge magician Jeff McBride sends his Master Class magic students to the show to teach them “ how it should be done.”

Gerry says: “It goes to prove you don’t really need a $100 million showroom and production to make it in this town. It’s a nice success story about talent. I’m very proud of it and very happy to be honored in this way. But right now, with the town going quiet for the holidays and shows going dark for their vacations, I’ve got to give it all that extra effort to keep the success on a roll!”
