For the first time ever in the National Finals Rodeo, a Nevada cowboy won the team-roping world championship. Randon Adams, who hails from Logandale -- about halfway between Las Vegas and Mesquite near the Valley of Fire State Park -- walked away with a 10-day prize purse of $83,834 as part of his record season's earnings of $190,000.

The 26-year-old cowboy was cheered to victory by his fiancée, Audrey Fowler, and his parents, Wes and Elizabeth Adams.

Randon was partnered with Matt Sherwood from Arizona for the team-roping event, and they notched a winning time of 4.7 seconds.

The "Super Bowl of Rodeos" came to a close last night with country singer Jack Ingram kicking off the action and excitement. In all, eight world champions were crowned with a sellout crowd of 17,879 cheering them on.

Other world championship winners of the prized and prestigious gold buckles at the Thomas & Mack Center last night were Luke Branquinho in steer wrestling, J.W. Harris in bull riding, Stran Smith in tie-down roping and Justin McDaniel in bareback riding. As Vegas DeLuxe reported earlier this week, Trevor Brazile, Lindsay Sears and Cody Wright won the all-around, barrel racing and saddle bronc riding titles, respectively.
