Strip Scribbles: New Year’s Eve fireworks plans are revealed

This morning Mayor Oscar Goodman and Pat Christenson, president of Las Vegas Events, are due to announce details of our Dec. 31 downtown and Strip fireworks festivities. As readers of this column know, there are no rooftop fireworks this year because of new fire-safety restrictions in place after the Monte Carlo roof blaze. Instead, the Grucci fireworks display will be fired from both ground level and on top of concrete garage parking lots.

Here’s what we’ve learned in advance: The tallest locations for fireworks will be from the top floor of the parking garages at MGM Grand, Caesars Palace, Treasure Island/The Mirage, Stratosphere and also from the ground-level parking lots at Mandalay Bay, Luxor, the Las Vegas Convention Center and finally downtown at the Fremont Street Experience. In addition, our merry Mayor of Mirth will announce the entertainment lineup on the Fremont Street Experience.

*Star surveillance: Reigning U.S. Open doubles champions Bob and Mike Bryan picked Lavo inside the Palazzo to celebrate the completion of their second annual Camp Bryan tennis event. Joined by friends and family, the handsome twins dined on signature dishes from the Lavo menu, including the famed bread pudding. After dinner, they hit the nightclub, where Mike Bryan surprised his girlfriend Lucile with cupcakes and sparklers for her birthday. … Laguna Beach and One Tree Hill heartthrob Stephen Colletti arrived at Studio 54’s pre-dawn after-hours party in MGM. He and a group of friends turned up at the legendary nightclub to enjoy the high-energy revelry that rocks on at a time when most of us are getting up for breakfast!

The 12 days of Christmas with the Crazy Girls.

*Here’s a holiday photo of the Crazy Girl beauties at the Riviera because, as of tonight, you won’t be able to see them back there until Jan. 13. That’s because the topless dancers of the sexy Vegas revue take their annual vacation, and they -- and I -- wanted you to have a sensual souvenir in their absence. The girls also shot a “12 Days of Christmas” pictorial series for us that we’ll have daily with the partridge and the pear tree starting here on Christmas Day! This sexy shot gives you an idea as to just why 10 lords go leaping and 12 drummers go drumming!

The two hotels had the hot, new clothing line designers create a fashion collection of customized lounge and lifestyle apparel and accessories in connection with the upcoming opening -- and they will be unveiled at the party before going on sale throughout the properties. … I’ll refrain from making any witticisms about Suicidal Tendencies appearing at the House of Blues in Mandalay Bay. … Rapper Too Short performs at Moon in the Palms for the JRoc the Bells annual Christmas extravaganza with a $10,000 cash and prize-filled balloon drop at midnight. … There’s triple the comedy at the Improv in Harrah’s with Dat Phan, Kenny Bob Davis and Kathy Chappell opening tonight and on stage through Sunday night.
