Strip Scribbles: Engagement on, Strip sightings

By Robin Leach

* It certainly didn't look as if "the engagement is off" for Brian Austin Green and fiancee Megan Fox when they cuddled up and kissed during their visit to Cirque du Soleil's O show at the Bellagio. Gossips have been breathless with their breakup reports -- but once again proven wrong!

* Bette the baker? Caesars Palace headline showgirl Bette Midler was so impressed by the unique and unusual breads wheeled around during dinner at Guy Savoy’s three-star Michelin restaurant that she asked if she could get a private cooking lesson from the pastry chefs. The new Bett-y Crocker took copious notes as she learned what really goes into making the loaves and rolls for the silver, elegantly mobile bread cart. She had such a "divine" time that she returned to the restaurant’s "Bites & Bubbles" bar for more of the tasty treats!

* We'll have our interviews with Ben Affleck, Don Cheadle and poker princess Annie Duke on Wednesday, but while all in town for the Ante Up for Africa charity, they dined as a trio at Sushi Roku in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. Meantime, their poker playmate, Jason Alexander, from the Seinfeld sitcom, feasted at FIX restaurant in the Mirage and he fueled up on shared appetizers with friends that included fried mac 'n' cheese, spicy tuna, mini lobster tacos, Caesar salads and a petite filet steak.

* Star Surveillance: Two of the movie screen's toughest guys, Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham, sat at nearby tables for dinner in the Strip House at the Planet Hollywood casino-resort. No spywitness reports about what they talked about, but they sure would be a powerful crime-fighting duo if they joined forces for a film ... comedian Eddie Griffin enjoyed VIP bottle service on the Strip-side patio of the new Torrid nightclub at the Hawaiian Tropic Zone in Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile ... all-pro running back Steven Jackson, who played for Eldorado High School and now for the St. Louis Rams, hung out at the bar of the Palazzo’s mod-Mex restaurant Dos Caminos for three hours, enjoying the specialty tacos with friends.
