Strip Scribbles: Club dust-up, sightings
By Robin Leach
*Now what was that dust-up all about? Janet Jackson’s lovemate, Jermaine Dupri, returned to the Prive nightclub's Money For Nothing party to DJ a 90-minute set, but banned female rapper Khia, singer of "My Neck, My Back," from getting up on his booth to sing her song. "Not while I'm in the house," Dupri apparently said. There was an even bigger commotion when reality star Brody Jenner waltzed in with a gaggle of young beauties in tow. Champagne, he decreed for all, but despite the hatchery he left only with one girl -- a striking 6-foot blonde!
*American Idol finalist Brooke White enjoyed the Tapis Rouge red carpet VIP service at the Beatles Revolution Lounge, where she filmed a Happy Birthday Ringo tribute that aired on CNN's Larry King Live. Then, accompanied by her husband and friends, she went to see Cirque du Soleil’s LOVE. She was invited backstage afterward and happily signed autographs for her fans in the cast.
*Planet Hollywood casino resort chief Robert Earl also took 20 friends, including macho movie stars Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham, to the Beatles Revolution Lounge at the Mirage for the Malibu Strings Red White and Bikinis party. The swimwear company gave away more than 50 of its bitsy bikinis to the ladies -- and some of the guests even popped on the swimwear to party the night away. Stallone and Statham -- now that sounds like a new double-act -- stayed with Dom Perignon Rose and Patron tequila.
*The Strip’s newest nightclub owner, French fashion designer Christian Audigier, had to check out the competition -- and he wound up at the Wet Republic luxury bungalows poolside at MGM Grand. He turned the adult oasis into a fashion playground by gifting all the gorgeous model servers with his new swimsuit line -- and every member of the sexy staff changed into them for the day to serve guests. Notorious hip-hop star Too Short joined the Ed Hardy designer in his posh bungalow, and also partying with him was newly signed Los Angeles Clippers star Baron Davis. Emmy-award winning actor Shemar Moore, from Young and the Restless and Criminal Minds, was in the seductive open-air lounge while former NFL running back Marshall Faulk, of the St.Louis Rams, booked another chic bungalow.
*Star Surveillance: At separate tables, Lawrence Taylor and Jermaine Dupri were spotted dining at Strip House inside the Planet Hollywood casino ... Magic’s sensational stuntman, David Blaine, lunched at Iron Chef Kerry Simon’s new Palms Place restaurant ... Chester Bennington, front man of Grammy-award winning Linkin Park, dined at The Mirage’s hip Stack steakhouse, selecting new summer menu items, including the lobster tacos and the crispy mozzarella sticks. He also enjoyed the Hot Rocks, tomato soup with mini grilled cheese, calamari and the rock shrimp ... a slew of stars tabbed Tryst nightclub at the Wynn Las Vegas for late-night partying both on the dance floor and at the waterfall, including actor-singer Tyrese, comedy actor Marlon Wayans, UFC fighter Josh Koscheck, actor Billy Zane from Titanic, Playboy model Shannon Sunderlin, the ever-eccentric Andy Dick and Charlotte Bobcats star player Emeka Okafor ... UFC octagon beauty Arianny Celeste hosted a Studio 54 nightlife party at MGM Grand, with UFC fighter Urijah Faber and Devon George of the Dallas Mavericks among those pumping the packed dance floor ... tattooed motocross stunt-rider Carey Hart has been giving celebrity visitors the sneak peak of his new rock lounge, Wasted Space, at the Hard Rock and reality star Audrina Patridge from The Hills was one of the first to pronounce it a winner.
