Save 50 percent or more on expensive restaurant wine

By Robin Leach

For some of the best wines in the city -- at the best prices -- the hidden gem for those in the know is the Marche Bacchus French Bistro, located just 10 miles from the Strip in the Desert Shores community of Summerlin.

I can spend up to $75 for my favorite -- Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc -- on the Strip, but at Marche Bacchus its just $38.99. My Veuve Clicquot champagne might set me back $110 on the Strip but here it has only a $60.99 price tag. The reason is simple: Marche Bacchus is a retail wine shop with a restaurant component. The food is great and the lakeside view is gorgeous -- but the savings on wine are staggering and noteworthy! Here are some more incredible examples: The Harlan Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2003 vintage is a $950 Strip charge but here its $634.99; the Caymus Conundrum at $70 on the Strip is just $36.99 at Marche Bacchus and the Joseph Phelps Insignia sells here for $229.99, versus $405 on the Strip!

Best bargain I found was on the George "Nuptial Vineyard" pinot noir, which will set you back $225 on the Strip yet here retails for just $89.99. Half the fun of the meal at Marche Bacchus is hunting and pecking through all the crates of wine in the shop to select and buy the one you want for your meal. Add it all up, and compared to the Strip it’s like getting the meal for free!
