New Vegas-based World Xtreme Boxing tourney planned

By Robin Leach

Every month around the country -- and maybe internationally -- the new Vegas-based World Xtreme Boxing Challenge (WXBC) will stage tournaments for a unique charitable cause, Fighting for a Better World. It will donate funds during each WXBC event to a spotlighted charity or cause.

On Friday, tournament organizer and Vegas resident Don House will introduce the sport to the world, national and local media folks gathered at our Westin Casuarina hotel, along with the eight global boxers on the first $2 million cash-prize card. The inaugural benefit is Aug. 29 in Des Moines.

Says Don: “WXBC brings the classic art of boxing to the next level with a “round-robin” tournament set-up; an exciting new style that has never been done before in the world of boxing. Fans will get competitive and exciting fights with a price point that is affordable to all, offering talented fighters a platform from which they can showcase their skills to a global audience while filling in the gap between fighters that make no money and the fighters who fight for mega–millions. Tension will heighten as fighters are pitted against one another, not just in a competition of strength and skill but for the per-round cash prizes.”

Don hopes and plans for one of the next two events to be right here at home.
