The 48-hour, non-stop Slash birthday bash

It all ran a little more than 48 hours -- yet guitar genius Slash was still roaring for more as his 43rd birthday celebration wound down! It was the birthday blast to beat all others as fellow music stars, including Fergie and will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas, turned out to help him with the fun festivities.
Last week, Luxe Life brought you the immediate overnight reports of the back-to-back parties all over the Mirage resort that rolled on at Bare pool, Revolution Lounge and Jet nightclub. There were stops in between for meals at Stack restaurant and a 60-person entourage visit to The Beatles Love musical by Cirque du Soleil. He even managed to squeeze in radio interviews, telling our DJ team that this all exceeded his 21st birthday blowout, where he got “plowed with late Vegas headliner and Rat Pack member, Dean Martin!”
Now we’ve assembled the rare rock revelry from start to finish in a special photo souvenir collection that should look as if you were there as a VIP guest from start to finish.
It all began at the Bare pool lounge in the Mirage with an all-star jam session that the Vegas HD TV cameras recorded for the Rhapsody music service. Joining Slash on stage for the 90-minute concert was the “Duchess” Fergie, Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction and Porno for Pyros fame, ZZ Top legend Billy Gibbons, Royston Langdon of Spacehog, Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine, Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains fame, Sen Dog of Cypress Hill and will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas. Their performance followed a sneak preview performance by soon-to-be Mirage headliner ventriloquist, Terry Fator.
DJ Perry Farrell kicked off the party with ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons. Slash and posse promptly delivered hit after hit for the music-hungry crowd. From classic Guns N’ Roses tunes like “It’s So Easy,” performed with Royston Langdon, to Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition,” performed with Perry Farrell, who at one point crawled across the stage on all fours, the all-star band delivered one unforgettable performance after another. The energy level reached fever pitch when the Duchess herself joined Slash on stage for a once-in-a-lifetime performance of the Guns N’ Roses smash “Sweet Child of Mine,” complete with dance moves that would have made Axl Rose proud.
The unforgettable night was topped off by a cake presentation, made by Slash’s wife, Perla Hudson. The Jean-Philippe Patisserie creation was a larger-than-life guitar, topped with a Slash trademark top hat. Perla played mistress of ceremonies to show a video-clip montage with greetings from Rainn Wilson, Ellen DeGeneres, Dave Navarro, Tommy Lee, Sammy Hagar, Flea (of the Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen.
Slash, however, wasn’t the only birthday boy in the house. Fergie, after showing off her one-handed somersault skills -- not once, but three times -- alongside longtime boyfriend Josh Duhamel, presented her father, Pat Ferguson, a birthday cake of his own at the end of the night. The Slash extravaganza continued until the wee hours of the morning at The Beatles Revolution Lounge, with Black Eyed Peas front man will.i.am twisting the wheels of steel turntables as guest DJ for the party. The tattooed rocker-filled VIP area included Perry Farrell and his wife, Etta; comedian Tommy Davidson; and Biohazard front man Evan Seinfeld, who is married to porn-world princess Tera Patrick.
The next night, the party people were ready to rip again for Round Two: Slash hosted 60 of his friends and family, including his wife, Perla Hudson, and their two sons, London and Cash, at the Beatles musical LOVE by Cirque du Soleil. The group included Evan Seinfeld, from HBO’s Oz; comedian Tommy Davidson; and Tom Morello, of Rage Against the Machine. Following the show, everybody went backstage to meet the cast and sign the LOVE wall-of-fame.
The partying posse began with dinner at Stack restaurant, dining on yellowtail sashimi, surf and turf and sea bass treats. Then, it was on to the adjoining Jet nightclub. will.i.am, Billy Gibbons, Jerry Cantrell and Tom Morello helped score a grand finale worthy of only a rock star. Slash even transformed the high-energy nightclub into an acoustic listening room with a once-in-a-lifetime performance.
Jerry Cantrell and fellow guitar god Tom Morello flanked the rock icon as the pulsating room hushed to a silence for the trio. With a dynamic yet intimate performance of the Alice in Chains hit “Got Me Wrong,” the three rock stars proved that music really is their “magnum opus.” When they ripped into the Pink Floyd classic “Wish You Were Here,” every person in the room -- without exception -- sang along. As the last note was played, yet another 6-foot tall cake from Jean-Philippe Patisserie was carried out onstage amidst a stream of sparklers. Designed as a replica of Slash’s guitar, the cake was adorned with his trademark top hat. will.i.am swiftly transformed the room into an ongoing, thumping dance party as he took over DJ duties and brought the club-goers to a frenzy, spinning hit after hit and even a smash of his own, “My Humps!”
I can’t quite repeat here just exactly what Slash said when asked how he felt about the two days of decadence but let it suffice to say he described it as way beyond awesome!
