Luxe Life exclusive: Photo of Roy feeding white tiger cub
By Robin Leach
In a rare moment, Roy Horn is photographed feeding a white tiger cub, one of five shipped to The Mirage today.
Photo: Robin Leach
Injured illusionist Roy Horn has never before been photographed feeding his beloved white tigers since the near-fatal white tiger incident back in October 2003.
Luxe Life was given special access to the two master magicians after they introduced their five new 6-week old baby tiger cubs which go on show to fans today (FRI) at the Mirage right on time for Siegfried's 69th birthday also today!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIEGFRIED.
Luxe Life has the full photo report of the new adorable baby cubs - and we'll post the amazing sequence of Roy with his adult tigers right here on Tuesday!
RUDNER LINES UP THE 7s -- ALMOST
Harrah’s headliner Rita Rudner is making a big bet on the number 776 --- just one shy of all the sevens. She and her husband, Martin Bergman, launch their first-ever play, Room 776, tonight (Friday), which will run at the Las Vegas Little Theater over the next 17 nights through June 29. It’s the ridiculously funny story of two complete strangers who get double-booked by error into the same Vegas hotel room for a vacation weekend. Said Rita: “Martin and I have written screenplays, novels, TV shows, letters and grocery lists. But we have never written a play so we thought we’d give it a go.” Local actors Nancy Denton, Scott Ast, Dean Munro, Lisa Illia, Todd Simmonds and Brian Scott perform in Rita and Martin’s show.
It’s been an unbelievably busy month for Rita with her first-ever comedy performance Rita Rudner Live from Las Vegas airing on the PBS nationwide funds and membership drive – and the DVD version with 25 additional minutes of extra concert footage will be released in 10 days time on June 24. She’s just completed filming in a new Janeane Garofalo Jenna Elfmann movie “HangingOutLookingUpFallingInLove” and her newest book I Still have It’ hit bookstore shelves in mid-May. Rita told me that if the Little Theater run of Room 776 goes well she’d like to stage it on the Strip rather than taking it to Broadway! “I love Vegas too much to leave it,” she laughed.
PARIS SQUEEZES IN AN OFFICIAL PORTRAIT:
Hard to believe there was a spare second in the crazed schedule Paris Hilton kept to while filming her new Best Female Friend MTV series here at the weekend. She was at TAO for three consecutive nights filming, partying and finally eliminating one of the seven contestants she’d brought with her. In addition, she filmed a segment of Beacher's Madhouse in one of The Mirage bungalows until 7 a.m. and was sawn in half by Nathan Burton for MTV cameras. She even went to the Bank nightclub for partner Danny A’s birthday celebration, where little sister Nicky Hilton narrowly avoided former Entourage beaufriend, Kevin Connolly. What with hair and makeup sessions and paying plenty of attention to boyfriend Benji Madden from the Good Charlotte rock group there wouldn’t have seemed a free moment possible. However, cool calm and collected Paris managed to strike a pose for her exclusive Venetian portrait photos. She and Benji were in a high-rollers luxury penthouse suite at The Venetian and she took time out for the casual camera look.
STARS ARE EVERYWHERE FOR CINEVEGAS WEEKEND DATES:
Today: Big Heart City with Seymour Cassell has a 5:30 p.m. red carpet. Bill Pullman, star of Your Name Here will be on hand for his 8.30 p.m. screening. Also at 8:30 p.m. is the world premiere of Happy Birthday, Harris Malden. The CineVegas 10th anniversary party gets underway at the Palms Place pool at 9 p.m.
Saturday: The world premiere of She Unfolds by Day is set for 1 p.m., followed by the 3:30 p.m. world premiere of South of Heaven. Then Bijou Phillips and Gabriel Mann star in Dark Streets and will do their red-carpet walk starting 7:45 p.m. Afterward, Bijou will be joined by Grammy Award-winning blues musician Chris Thomas King in a charity concert at the Palms pool to raise recovery funds for artists and cultural organizations in Louisiana still coping with the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. This is also the night of the eagerly awaited Mexican film Deficit, directed by Gael Garcia Bernal at 8 p.m. You can also see it at 6 p.m. on Tues June 17.
Sunday: Former wrestling superstar Dwayne Johnson stars with Steve Carrell and Anne Hathaway in spy spoof Get Smart and this is a rare 2:15 p.m. screening away from the Brenden Theaters at the Palms and over at the Planet Hollywood resort casino’s mezzanine theater. The event will be a fundraiser for Dwayne’s ‘Project Knapsack’ charity foundation. Prior to the movie, Johnny Brenden will present Dwayne with a Brenden Celebrity Star at his Palms casino resort theaters. Then back at the Palms please go see my friend Scott Richman’s Black List movie, directed by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders and starring Chris Rock, Sean Combs, Colin Powell and Serena Williams showing at 3 p.m. The much-talked-about Memorial Day movie has its world premiere at 7 p.m. The Viva CineVegas party gets underway at mod-Mex restaurant Dos Caminos at the Palazzo starting at 9 p.m.
STRIP SCRIBBLES:
-- Rock stars Panic At The Disco do double-duty today (Friday) at the Palms. By day they’ll host the weekly Ditch noon party at the main pool and by night they’ll perform in the Pearl Theater there. As part of the Honda Civic Tour they’ve lined up pop-emo punk bands Motion City Soundtrack, Phantom Planet and the Hush Sound to kick off the 7 p.m. early start concert. Panic, made up of all Vegas locals, recorded its second release Pretty Odd at the Palms recording studio, which was released just three months ago. The first single, “Nine in the Afternoon” raced to the top of the charts. Their 2005 debut was with the album “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out.” On this visit to the Palms singer Brendon Urie and guitarist Ryan Ross will be able to drink now they’ve turned 21 but drummer Spencer Smith is still underage so he’ll stick to water! Even after the show their daylong gig isn’t over because the four-man band has agreed to host Music is the Currency party at Rain nightclub there starting 11 p.m.
-- Playboy model Rebecca Lynn hosted the drinking and dancing party all night long on the 50-yard-line of the famed Strip at the new Torrid nightclub inside the Hawaiian Tropic Zone at Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile.
-- You can laugh at the ridiculous state of affairs when would be rapper Kevin Federline gets honored as Father of the Year at the Prive nightclub in Planet Hollywood tonight. True he has received praise for his parenting skills of his two youngsters from ex-wife Britney Spears but let’s remember he also has children without marriage to former galpal, actress Shar Jackson. The 9th-grade dropout has been a dancer, an actor, a fashion model and is now trying for hip-hop stardom. Most of his income now comes from making nightclub personal appearances where he’ll readily accept any award you want to present him with! However his party tonight is really to blunt the head-to-head attack on Prive by rival boutique Blush nightclub at the Wynn, which has recruited gossip blogger Perez Hilton and his favorite DJ Mighty Mi. The self-proclaimed “Queen of All Media,” who claims almost 10 million unique monthly hits on his “Hollywood’s Most Hated Web Site” is host of the Freaky Friday the 13th party. Perez was named No. 1 web celeb by Forbes Magazine last year.
MONDAY’S TEASE: We’ll have our full at-home Jungle Palace photo gallery of Siegfried & Roy’s brand new baby tiger cubs, plus all the weekend photo-highlights from CineVegas with its star-studded parties, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Get Smart movie premiere and the results of the showdown between K-Fed and Perez Hilton. Later in the week our exclusive behind-the-scenes look with Mindfreak magician Criss Angel at rehearsals for his new Cirque du Soleil Believe show.
