Inside Amazing Johnathan’s wild and outrageous house of horrors

Amazing Johnathan's annual Halloween party brought out fellow Strip entertainers MGM’s David Copperfield, Luxor’s Carrot Top, Red Rock’s Zowie Bowie, Flamingo’s Nathan Burton, Paris headliner Anthony Cools and Hooters’ mentalist Gerry McCambridge. Johnathan, who appears nightly at the Krave Theater in Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile, converted his east-side airport warehouse into Szele’s Mortuary, where he handed out 3-D glasses for those willing to brave entry into the “Missing Persons” maze.

He’d built it over a nearly three-month period as a pitch-black experience so the only way to exit was by feeling the watery, spider-webbed walls, which got narrower the deeper one walked. Additionally, the ceiling got lower at each step until the end, when you were on your hands and knees scrambling over body bags containing “live” people and mannequins. To get through to the exit, the brave and the squeamish had to outrun a pack of ravenous pit bulls.

Johnathan filled his theater room with an outrageous, eclectic collection of street performers, including Snake Babe, contortionists and a choir comprised of priests and nuns who after a revival sing-along managed to break into a love-fest sex orgy!
