Allergy-suffering Cher says romance is nothing to sneeze at

Legendary 62-year-old singer Cher has denied that her recently canceled headliner shows at Caesars Palace were because of throat cancer.

“My health is great, but the wind blows in Vegas and I have an allergy to it. It’s known as Vegas throat,” Cher said. “If I had cancer, everyone would know it. I wouldn’t tell, but somebody would because if you’re famous and have those kinds of things happening, they can’t be kept secret. It’s really hard if you get a sickness and you’re well-known because everyone gets to know about it.”

The toughest problem Cher is battling right now turns out apparently to be her love life. She says it’s tough for any man to become her boyfriend: “They just don’t want to be Mr. Cher -- and I’m still looking for Mr. Right, yet it’s difficult to find the right love because no man really wants to be my partner.”

Cher, who dated Kiss singer Gene Simmons and was married to the late Sonny Bono and rocker Gregg Allman, added: “It’s really hard for the guy and ruins his life.” She admitted that she is dating somebody new but won’t reveal his identity, saying: “I don’t do that because it’s hard enough to have just a plain life; it’s hard enough to just get around without the paparazzi up your ass all the time.”

Cher, who had performed 44 sold-out shows at Caesars Palace before being felled by the throat problems, says she’ll be healthy enough to resume her three-year contract, with the next set of 35 dates starting Feb. 21 and running through May 24.
