Breaking News: Wynn now taking Dec. 22 reservations at Encore tower

Hotel tycoon Steve Wynn was originally told he would be able to only take reservations for his new Encore resort tower after January -- thus missing all the potential New Year's Eve business and the two weekends that precede and follow the midweek celebrations.,

He won special permission from the Clark County Commission in light of the current economic doldrums the country is facing. He will be given a Certificate of Occupancy that allows him to now have guests in the new complex as of Dec. 22.

The change took place quietly late yesterday and is in effect as of this morning. Instead of missing out on two big weekends and a midweek holiday bonanza, he is now set to have a really grand opening. Originally it was just some of the shops, new nightclubs and the casino floor but no rooms. "He appealed for the help -- and got it," I was reliably told early today!
