With Olympic champion Greene out, it’s down to four couples on DWTS

It was an emotionally charged Dancing With the Stars last night, with young Cody Linley actually in tears. He had pro dancers Julianne Hough, recovering from surgery, and replacement Edyta Sliwinska on his arms.

Both helped the Hannah Montana teen actor narrowly avoid being booted. Then he cried again when Julianne, our former Las Vegas Academy student, promised that she’d be able to dance with him next week.

Julianne proved it by dancing an exhibition with her brother Derek, and that brought more tears from the clearly emotionally riled teenager. Incidentally, Derek also was voted safe with his partner, actress-model-talk show host Brooke Burke, which means that both Houghs now wind up in next week’s semifinals, equaling their Season 5 achievement.

Our other favorite, Lance Bass, and his partner, Lacey Schwimmer, also were safe despite surprise guest Dr. Drew warning them that their “negotiation and frustration in dancing” was starting to show and could jeopardize them next week.

That left Olympic gold medalist Maurice Greene and Super Bowl champion Warren Sapp. Host Tom Bergeron announced that Maurice and partner Cheryl Burke’s dancing dash for success had ended!

So next week the semifinalists are Brooke, Cody, Warren and Lance. My bet is that Warren exits, leaving the three showbiz stars. Then Cody will depart the following week, leaving the final battle between Brooke and Lance, with Brooke declared the ultimate winner -- exactly as I predicted the script would go from the first show. We’ll see if I’m right!
