Strip Scribbles: Topless show covers up once a week to allow younger audiences

By Robin Leach

The cast of Jubilee!, shown here with Whoopi Goldberg during The View's visit earlier this year, is experimenting with a "covered" performance.

*It’s an experiment, and it’s only for one show a week. So don’t panic and think Sin City’s reputation for topless showgirls in lavish see-through-to-everything costumes is going the way of the economy! The rhinestone-clad beauties at Jubilee! in Bally’s at center Strip will keep their tops on just on Saturdays for the early evening show. Teenagers 14 and older will be allowed in for the first time ever to see the show as a family attraction!

*Controversial interviewer Martin Bashir, who raked Michael Jackson over the coals, brought his ABC Nightline cameras to the Strip over the weekend to report on how the nation’s economic crisis is affecting Vegas. His mini-doc will air this week -- maybe as early as tomorrow!

Heidi Fleiss, caught during a holdup.

*Former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss made a rare foray into the Palazzo for dinner at the new Sushi Samba hotspot. She dined with friends, ordering up tiradito samplers, anticuchos from the robata grill, sushi rolls -- and, although they all discussed wine, they ordered only sake! Baseball star Frank Howard of the Oakland Athletics decided to watch the Jets game on TV while drinking Sushi Samba caipirinhas at the bar! Resident Nip/Tuck sexpot actress Kelly Carlson lunched at Sushi Samba with girlfriends, eating a selection of samba rolls at the sushi bar and drinking the Passion Fruit sambatinis.

Downstairs at Wolfgang Puck’s CUT steakhouse in the Palazzo, Philadelphia Phillies center fielder Shane Victorino dined on the menu’s signature steaks!

It also was a night of baseball stars at Victor Drai’s Tryst in the Wynn. Dontrelle Willis of the Detroit Tigers, Florida Marlins star Dan Uggla and his former teammate, pitcher Scott Olsen, recently traded to the Washington Nationals, made up a partying trio -- and then not content to call it a night when the festivities wound down there, moved on to Drai’s After Hours at Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall at center Strip, staying until after dawn!

Tonight’s tip

Mondays are big at Prive as Outkast’s Big Boi hosts Money for Nothing Monday. Andre 3000’s musical collaborator will be holding down the fort at the Strip hotspot as cash rains from the ceiling. Be there or be broke!

Tomorrow’s tease

The seven veils are lifted on the new Peep show -- 15 topless dancers and two, tantalizing TV temptresses. It might be scary, but don't be scared: We’ve got all the first and exclusive revelations. Also, the annual G2E gaming conference kicks off here, Ethel’s Chocolate launches the holiday season with its annual lighting ceremonies, and celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck brings his favorite Italian kitchen king to town.
