Breaking News: Katt scratched from The Comedy Festival

By John Katsilometes

This is one whipped Katt.

Proving that no entertainer is indefatigable, Katt Williams has canceled his appearance at The Comedy Festival, set for Thursday at 10 p.m. According to a news release sent today, a spokesman for Williams explains: “Following an arduous 300 show, 18-month touring schedule that left him incredibly fatigued, Katt felt compelled to be with his family in an effort to deal with his stress. While doing so, he is under a doctor's care. As this is a private and personal matter, the media is asked to respect his family's request for privacy.” Williams has been involved in a series of bizarre incidents involving firearms and law enforcement (click HERE, HERE and HERE for a rundown), even performing a show at Carnegie Hall in New York about a half hour after bailing himself out of jail after being arrested on weapons charges.

The Comedy Festival release also states that, “The Comedy Festival, TBS, Concerts West/AEG and Caesars Palace apologize for the inconvenience that this causes ticket holders. Ticket holders for the cancelled performance have the following options for exchange or refund:

TICKET REFUNDS

"Those who purchased tickets with a credit card for the cancelled performance will be automatically refunded. Those who purchased tickets with cash may present tickets at the original point of sale for a refund.

"Ticket holders will not need to redeem tickets for a refund unless purchased with cash at The Colosseum Box Office. Any cash transactions will only be refunded with the redemption of the original tickets. All credit card orders will automatically be refunded to the credit card used for purchase.

"Please note that The Comedy Festival, TBS, Concerts West/AEG, Caesars Palace and Ticketmaster are not responsible for hotel, travel or other expenses related to the cancellation of this performance.”

This isn’t the first time a scheduled performer has backed out of a gig at The Comedy Festival. Dave Chappelle humorlessly canceled his appearance in 2006 (and click HERE for Johnny Kats’ coverage in the LV Sun of that episode, also rooted in the fatigue of a comic). Katt’s cancellation is the first, and so far only, glitch in this year’s Comedy Festival schedule.
