Strip Scribbles: Celebrity sightings and tonight’s tip

By Robin Leach

* TV personality Dr. Phil may have found the solution to stress! Tomorrow on his show seen nationwide (here locally at 7 p.m. on NBC affiliate KVBC-TV Channel 3) our friends the Blue Man Group will perform to demonstrate how people can reduce stress in everyday life. Starring nightly in their own showroom at The Venetian, the Blue Man Group incorporates several types of percussion into its live shows. Research has proved listening to the sounds of drums can help reduce an individual’s stress levels. The Federation of Drums and Percussion reports that drumming can help people express and address emotional issues and removes blocked unexpressed feelings and emotions. It also induces deep relaxation, lowers blood pressure and helps reduce stress, which is the primary cause of killer heart attacks and strokes. The Dr. Phil show, now in its seventh season, is the second highest rated daytime talk show, just behind Oprah, with more than 6 million daily viewers. Each member of Dr. Phil's Los Angeles audience was presented with two free tickets to Blue Man Group’s show at The Venetian and a copy of the group's blue-ray DVD, “How to Be a Megastar Live!” being released Nov. 4.

*Hard to believe that Christmas is just around the corner, but that countdown has already started for some folks. Record producer Ron Dante, who is often in and out of George Maloof’s recording studios at the Palms, released his newest CD yesterday – a brand new Archies Christmas album with Betty and Veronica -- their first collaboration in almost 30 years! My friend Ron told me he discovered two terrific teens to sing and it wound up as the Archies meet "High School Musical" and "Hannah Montana." You can preview it for yourself right here at www.myspace.com/archiesusa. Ron will be on stage at the Orleans on the pre-New Year's Eve weekend starting Dec. 27, when he opens again for Imelda Papin -- and he’ll be joined by the two new Betty and Veronica singers!

*Magician and Monte Carlo headliner Lance Burton treated 50 members of his cast and crew to a night of magic from friendly rival Jeff McBride at his Magic at the Edge show at his SoundTrax showroom in the Palace Station.

*Star Surveillance: Actor-comedian Drew Carey was at Mr. Lucky’s for dinner in the Hard Rock while nearby at the Wasted Space rock lounge were Foo Fighter musicians Nate Mendel and Pat Smear relaxing after their second soldout show ... Miss USA 2007 Rachel Smith enjoyed a day of luxury at the Mirage and Bellagio hotels. It began poolside at the Mirage’s topless-optional adult Bare pool lounge and was followed by dinner at the Fix restaurant. Then the beauty queen danced until the early morning hours at the Bank nightclub in the Bellagio. Also partying in VIP were Mean Girls star Jonathan Bennett, comedian David Spade and Dr. Gary Motykie from E! Entertainment’s Dr. 90210 TV series ... Grammy Award-winning hip-hop violinist Miri Ben-Ari hopped atop an outdoor patio platform for a special performance at the boutique Blush nightclub in the Wynn Las Vegas ... next door at Victor Drai’s beautiful Tryst nightclub was rapper Xzibit, who posed with friends for fan photos, World Wrestling Entertainment star David Batista and Tom Atencio, who owns Affliction.

Tonight's tip:

The beautiful brassy bartenders of Hogs & Heifers celebrate the saloon’s third anniversary with rockabilly revue band Double Wide. The sassy sexy servers ensure downtown debauchery at the no-holds-barred honky-tonk favorite and it's the perfect host for the eight-annual, four-day Bike Fest that starts tomorrow. Ladies, take your bra off and hang it from the ceiling, where more than 1,000 already reside! ... Look up in the sky: it’s a bird, it’s a plane. Well it's not Superman, but it is the world’s largest flying ship, and just around 6 p.m. tonight the new M resort, spa and casino starts flying its big-screen electronic lightship. There are only three of these monsters in the world featuring a 2,100 square-foot aerial TV screen broadcasting live TV, streaming videos and Web sites including this Luxe Life blog! The lightship will fly in from the southwest side of the city and hover near the M resort for news helicopters and camera shots -- before flying down the Strip.

Tomorrow's tease:

Thousands of bike enthusiasts arrive downtown for Bike Fest ‘08 and Luxe Life has the revved-up sneak peak at what's in store with more than 300 exhibitors. We also have an advance look at the new Raw Talent Live show opening this weekend at the Sahara and tour the magnificent new autumn festival display at the Bellagio, plus rock fans will be in sevent heaven with Erik Kabik’s photo souvenir album with Queensryche.
