Vegas VIPs head for American League playoffs in Anaheim

By Robin Leach

In this week’s American League opener between he Los Angeles Angels and the Boston Red Sox it didn’t go the way a slew of Vegas VIPs wanted. They’d made the hike over to Anaheim, only to see their L.A. favorites fall victim to the Red Sox. Whereas the Angels won eight of nine regular season games, outscoring the Red Sox 42-17 in the final six regular-season games, this time treachery slid into home base. The Angels fell 4-1! Everybody was surprised and nobody was happy about it. Our intrepid photographer Tom Donoghue, who is an unabashed Angels fan, captured some great close-up photos of the team. He discovered Planet Hollywood president Mike Mecca and his wife, Sandy there in Angels’ Stadium when they finished with the best record in baseball with 100 wins. It was a great way to start the run for the championship and hopefully the World Series crown- but the first game against Boston was not a good omen!
