Charo is shooting up the Strip.

Sexy Spanish superstar Charo starts two long days of location TV filming on the Strip today as part of a new PBS-TV pledge drive special being produced and co-hosted by local Vegas entertainment celebrity Tony Sacca. Incredibly and simultaneously she’ll also be shooting a separate reality show for Univision -- and the two sets of dueling cameras will work their scenes around each other!

It all started this morning at 10 a.m. with a gondola ride along the Venetian Grand Canal Shoppes. Then Charo moves onto the fountain at the Palazzo, a cobblestone street inside the Paris resort hotel and then a one-hour concert on the Strip in front of the Bellagio fountains at 7 p.m. Members of the public are invited to watch at all the location sites. At the Bellagio, Charo will perform tracks from her newest CD, Espana Cani, now No. 16 on the charts. She’ll accompany herself on her prized Segovia flamenco guitar and three dancers will add to the spicy setting. The night doesn’t end there for Charo -- the opening shots of the TV special will be filmed from the open-air patio at MIX atop THEhotel at Mandalay Bay from 10 p.m. until midnight looking down the illuminated Strip.

The action starts all over again at 9 a.m. Tuesday on the Walk of Stars outside the New York New York casino and then across the street at 11 a.m. at the MGM Grand Hollywood Theater ticket booth. Charo and Tony will do their musical numbers at the main Hilton showroom in the afternoon and then perform live together at 8 p.m. on the Fremont Street Experience.

PBS-TV’s Pledge Drive show, filmed in High Definition, will air next January. A major portion of it will be based on Tony’s own interview archives from his 23-year run of the local weekly "Entertainment Las Vegas Style" TV show he’s hosted here. PBS says it will follow in the footsteps of one of its most successful shows ever, "Doo Wop at 50."
