Strip Scribbles: Celeb sightings and tonight’s tip

*He might be known as the Freddy Kruger of comedy but magician Amazing Johnathan’s raw, impulsive and abrasive wit has won him a World Magic Award. AJ won Best Comedic Magician over the weekend in California. Hosted by actor Neil Patrick Harris, a part-time magician too, the show in its third year was taped for a later TV broadcast. AJ also performed a segment with his assistant, Psychic Tanya. He is previously a two-time winner of the International Magic Award for Best Comedy Magician. He appears at the Harmon Theater alongside Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile and is readying his annual Halloween shocker of shocks party!

*Actress Leslie Bibb took a break from filming her latest film, A Good Old Fashioned Orgy, to spend a night dancing at the Prive club inside the Planet Hollywood resort casino. Leslie is best known for her role as the wife in Talladega Nights. The blonde starlet, to be seen shortly starring in Confessions of a Shopaholic, was dressed in an old movie-star glamour gown. She arrived with several girlfriends but an hour later at 1 a.m. her movie co-stars Nick Kroll, Jason Sudeikis and Lindsay Sloan joined her partying with Patron Tequila shots until 3 a.m.

*Congratulations to our hometown hero and former Harrah’s headliner, Clint Holmes, as he’s rehearsing and on his way to New York to perform for the first time at the prestigious Carnegie Hall with the famed New York Pops orchestra. Clint tells me he’ll be singing a lot of new New York-themed songs in addition to some very familiar Big Apple hits. He’s up at the Suncoast next weekend for three nights of shows before flying to the East coast.

*Due to overwhelming demand for the “can’t miss” concert event of the year, Neil Diamond has added a third leg to his 2008/09 North American tour to satisfy fans. The legendary singer, songwriter and performer’s tour will stop at the MGM Grand Garden Arena to kick off the New Year on Jan. 2. Tickets will go on sale this coming Saturday.

*STAR SURVEILLANCE: Olympic gold medalist and freestyle sprint swimmer Cullen Jones hit our nightspots on his Vegas visit. At Tao’s weekly worship party in the Venetian he celebrated in a private skybox with a stunning model enjoying Grey Goose vodka cocktails. Over at the Vanity party in Cathouse at the Luxor he even got to meet boxing champion Mike Tyson, who was partying there ... actor Kyle Howard was at Lavo in the Palazzo, alongside my table, helping DJ Vice celebrate his birthday. Kyle from My Boys and Orange Count took a dance floor table up in the boutique Lavo nightclub. Also there were Patrick Renna, best known for The Sandlot and Patrick Van Horn, of Swingers fame.

NASCAR great Kurt Busch hosts his own 6 p.m. Celebrity Poker Tournament at Golden Gaming’s Sierra Gold with lots of Las Vegas Speedway prizes. Our hometown race hero is raising money for the Victory Junction Gang Camp for children with chronic medical conditions and serious illnesses. “It's an exciting opportunity for poker players and NASCAR fans to come together to raise money for the foundation,” said Kurt ... the WWE wrestling stars have their "Smackdown" at the Thomas & Mack Center ... the Bogus Journey Tour swings into the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay with Academy and We The Kids ... singer-songwriter Jackie Greene, who is hailed as today’s Bob Dylan for his harmonica, keyboard and guitar work, performs in concert at Carey Hart’s Wasted Space rock lounge in the Hard Rock hotel casino at 10 p.m. ... comedian John Caponera kicks off his headline run through Sunday at the Improv Comedy Club in Harrah’s with fellow comics Alan Bursky and Pam Mattison.
