Donny & Marie -- what's your sign?
It’s official this morning that America’s favorite brother-sister duo, Donny & Marie, will extend their contract as the resort’s headliners for two years, through October 2010.
The news from Flamingo President Don Marrandino confirms two previous exclusive Luxe Life stories. The contract has an option clause in it for an additional two-years for a total of four years that Luxe Life first reported after an interview with Donny at the recent Andre Agassi Grand Slam event at the Wynn.
He told me then: "It’s marvelous and we couldn't have wished for better. We're loving Vegas and just want to stay!"
The incredible possible three-year 10-month extension comes just six-weeks after its opening on September 9. It has played to packed sold-out houses nightly ever since. Negotiations were finalized last week and contract signatures were collected from everybody at the weekend. It now ensures that Marie will host her new TV season daily talk-show next year from Vegas.
“Donny and Marie are true superstars with the most comprehensive show on the Strip, combining rock, country, Broadway, opera, comedy and an element of sexiness,” said the hotel's head honcho.” Their show has been an amazing success, bringing an invigorated energy to the Flamingo, and we’re thrilled to have them with us for two more years.”
Said Donny : “Headlining in Las Vegas again after all the years in between is something Marie and I have wanted to do for some time now, and we are delighted to extend our run at the Flamingo just six weeks after opening, It’s really great that our fans share our enthusiasm and have come out in droves to support the show.”
Marie added: “Las Vegas has become home to my family, so it’s wonderful to know that we will be at the Flamingo for the next couple of years. Donny and I have a blast onstage every night and look forward to continuing the fun with our audiences.”
Their 90-minute variety show is presented by entertainer Danny Gans and manager Chip Lightman of GansLight Entertainment and features eight-high energy dancers and a talented 9-piece band.
