Phelps and clubs getting along swimmingly as he hits Palms Place for Skeletal Metal party
By Robin Leach
Michael Phelps.
Ever since he took home his record haul of nine gold medals from the Beijing Olympics, super-swimmer Michael Phelps has become a Vegas regular. He’s popped up at parties, poker parlors and nightclubs. He’s even become a new guest DJ! All with such regularity it would be safe to say Vegas has become his second home -- if not his new HQs!
He was the star attraction at a Skeletal Metal launch party poolside at George Maloof’s new Palms Place condo-tel tower -– and Michael even wore a bracelet from the edgy new jewelry line. Fellow Olympian Rich Lambourne and the USA Womens Volleyball Team Stacy Sykora, Nicole Davis, Nicole Branagh, Abby Wambach and Jamie Carol joined in the fun.
Also on hand was UFC champion Forrest Griffin and Iron Chef Kerry Simon, who hosted the event for Vegas orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Michael Crovetti who created the new designs.
The UFC fighter who also wore a Skeletal Metal bracelet said the metal plates used for the jewelry were the same plates he needed to help heal a broken arm from when he was younger and didn’t have health insurance!
The jewelry is made from the metal plates that doctors use to help the repairs in surgery to broken or damaged bones in limbs. They’ve become an overnight rage -- particularly with athletes and sports stars, who tend to get injured more often than the more sedentary among us!!!!
Phelps’ undercover look of baseball cap and hooded sweatshirt didn’t disguise him too well. He stayed private in a poolside cabana enjoying champagne, Grey Goose vodka and Red Bull -– and avoided all interviews with nosy reporters at the party. He simply said he didn’t want to do anything his agent wouldn’t approve of. Michael went into the new Simon restaurant for dinner with friends -- but later turned up at the new LAVO restaurant and nightclub over in the Palazzo for another night of late-night partying!
