Michael Jackson celebrates unique 50th birthday, reveals secret “dates” with Pamela Anderson
By Robin Leach
Double surprises from pop-king Michael Jackson as he celebrated his half-century birthday -- coincidentally on the same day as mine although I’ll confess I’m a tad older! First, it came to light that he’s enjoyed a couple of dates with Baywatch blonde bombshell Pamela Anderson, who just turned 41.
Pamela Anderson
Before she left for Australia to promote her new TV reality series, Pamela and Michael turned up separately at the Shutters Hotel in Malibu and hid away in a corner of the bar for privacy. My former pals on the headline-screaming British tabloids went berserk with that news and then into overdrive when Pamela agreed to meet Michael for a second rendezvous -- this time at the Country Mart coffee hangout also in Malibu, where she has a home.
Apparently it was a “cloak and dagger” total maximum secrecy operation set up by both of their security folks. For the record, Michael has been married twice before (Lisa-Marie Presley and Deborah Rowe) and Pamela has been married three times before (Tommy Lee, Kid Rock and Rick Salomon here in Vegas). None of their unions lasted beyond three years, so they already have a lot in common! Nobody knows if a romance is starting to bubble or if Michael wants to enlist Pamela in a show he’s plotting in connection with his new record release comeback.
Michael, as part of his 50th birthday celebrations, also took his three children off to the Planet Hollywood restaurant in the Forum Shops at Caesars -- and he happily posed for femme-fatale photog Denise Truscello, who shared her portrait with Luxe Life. When he returned home he discovered several fans who had traveled here all the way from Europe to wish him a "happy Birthday." He had his driver stop so he could roll down the windows and sign autographs for them through the rear window. Next day on a phone interview with Good Morning America on ABC-TV he said: “I’m going to have a little cake with my children and we’ll probably watch some cartoons. I am letting them enjoy their childhood as much as possible. I want them to get to do things -- go to the arcade, go to the movies -- and do things I didn’t get to do. I get pretty emotional when I see them having a wonderful time.”

He also revealed that he’s looking forward to doing a lot of great things with the remainder of his career. “In my humble opinion the best is yet to come,” he added.
The European fans returned on the big day and gifted him with a birthday cake, balloons and other presents, which Michael’s security team took into the home for him. In return, Michael had the security staff bring out six pizzas each to the fans on both days!
I had a different kind of surprise on my own same-day birthday. Three stunning Playboy Club bunnies turned up tableside at Nove in the Palms Fantasy Tower to help blow out the candles on the dessert presentation by Chef Geno Bernardo. Later at the new Yellowtail restaurant in Bellagio, Paris Hilton gave me a birthday kiss, and the only amusing gossip from the night was that at The Bank nightclub, Leonardo DiCaprio kept hitting on one of my blonde-haired dates until she told him to “bug off!" That sank his ship -- and made me feel pretty good!
