Strip Scribbles: Beyonce a New Year’s Eve headliner on the Strip?

By Robin Leach

*Just asking: is Beyonce the first megastar to be signed for a New Year’s Eve concert appearance on the Strip?… which Strip casino was beaten out of $18 million by a free-wheeling, big-betting, high-roller who decided to call it quits before going for $20 million? … if the whispers are figments of somebody’s imagination or for real about Whitney Houston making her comeback with a run of nightly concerts later this fall at the Wynn as the late show following Le Reve?

The fabulous cast of Sunset Tan.

*The hit Sunset Tan series on E! Entertainment featured the grand opening of its Las Vegas salon at George Maloof’s Palms Place condo-tel last night (Sunday). It showed a lot of drama connected to Janelle Perry’s going-away party as she departed Hollywood to run the Vegas location. The program got through Nick’s anger-management issues with Keely and celebrated with a high-energy fashion show at the Palms Pool to launch the new Sunset Tan swimwear. We’ll let you know when the guest appearance I filmed with Janelle in the tanning booth will air!

*Hair-color king Michael Boychuck, from his Colors salon at Caesars Palace and AMP and PRIMP salons at the Palms, was flown to Hollywood yesterday (Sunday) by top client Paris Hilton to make her look blond-beautiful for the MTV Video Music Awards at Paramount Studios last night. Then Michael was her and her boyfriend, Benji Madden’s, guest at his afterparty.

*Comedian Eddie Griffin brings his VH1 series cameras into Planet Hollywood resort casino today (Monday) to film head honcho Robert Earl

“auditioning” him for a possible headliner role at the casino. Eddie’s “reality series” featuring his two ex-wives and his mom, will end its first season with the story of Eddie’s attempt to leave Hollywood to find fame and fortune in Vegas.

*Master magician Lance Burton has taken a two-week vacation from his headliner shows at the Monte Carlo resort casino and singer Gabriel Iglesias is performing in his absence. Lance returns a week from Tuesday (Sept. 16).

*Interesting fascinating things come to light when divorce lawyers file their court papers. Hulk Hogan and his wife, Linda, are in a wild divorce battle, which even involves a royal rumble over their penthouse condo in George Maloof’s Palms Place tower. While Linda says she has monthly expenses of $7,258 just for clothing, the Hulk says he only spends $102 a month –- probably because it’s just a bandana and a wife-beater shirt? Linda also wants $6,100 a month for vacations –- with her new 19-year-old toy-boy on the beach? No word yet who gets the Vegas pad! They claim he’s worth between $26 and $32 million and can afford to pay her what she’s demanding!

*Former boxing champ Floyd Mayweather Jr. drove down the I-15 in one of his fancy expensive automobiles to take in the Kid Diamond vs. Javier Jauregui fight on the state line at Terrible's Buffalo Bill's Resort & Casino in Primm.

*Our colleagues at the Las Vegas Sun play host to the American Society of News Directors meeting up at the Red Rock spa casino and I’ll play emcee for this evening’s awards show -- but not until Flamingo magician Nathan Burton makes me mysteriously appear during one of his illusions to kick off the night!
