“Sandcastle Disco” queen Solange Knowles dances late into the night
By Robin Leach
It was just after midnight this morning that singer Solange Knowles arrived at the Prive nightclub in the Planet Hollywood resort casino to celebrate the release of her new album Sol-Angel & The Hadley Street Dreams. The stunning entertainer immediately spent one hour dancing in the luxury club's DJ booth at its weekly Money for Nothing Monday night party.
Our Luxe Life photographers Scott Doctor and Denise Truscello were on hand for our start-of-the-day photo coverage.
Solange, who loathes being linked to her famous relatives (she is the younger sister of Beyonce Knowles and thus sister-in-law to rap-mogul Jay-Z) then "took up her regal position" at a VIP banquette, where she sipped from an array of Moet & Chandon champagne, Patron tequila and Grey Goose vodka with mixers ordered up for her entourage.
When the club's DJ played her single "Sandcastle Disco," she jumped up on the couches and danced with her galpal Alison Jordan. After two hours of fun and partying, Solange decided to "call it a day."
Last week she caused several controversies during a nationwide satellite TV tour promoting the new album when interviewers introduced her as Beyonce's sister. She lashed out at them live on air blasting their lack of professionalism in not simply stating her name and credits instead of linking her to Beyonce's success.
One of her TV feuds involved our local Fox 5 More talk show. When she arrived at Prive this morning she spotted its video camera on the red-carpet and Solange insisted they be asked to leave. Her manager said she would refuse to enter the nightclub and pose on the red carpet until they were escorted out. The More crew, although it had permission for its coverage, left and Solange went ahead with her planned appearance.
