MGM Mirage officials announce new Mirage Volcano, vowing “The earth will move”

Two weeks ago, Luxe Life exclusively revealed ambitious plans by MGM Mirage executives to re-open a brand-new, $25-million volcano attraction at The Mirage in early December. Yesterday (Wednesday) they officially confirmed our advance reports that former Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart has composed an original seven-minute drumbeat concert piece that the flame-jet fires and explosions will be choreographed against. After Dec. 7, tourists and locals will watch the staggering spectacle as close as just 30 feet away -- and not only will they feel the earth shake and shudder from the eruptions but their foreheads will sweat from the 900-degree heat!
Mirage President Scott Sibella admitted that at one point in the transformation planners had considered moving the Volcano closer to the hotel’s conservatory lobby as part of crowd-control Strip-front considerations. Now he tells me that The Mirage may very well build a new tower alongside the Volcano on the next expansion program!
Next week, Luxe Life will have our exclusive interviews with The Mirage president and Mickey Hart when we reveal a host of other secrets that weren’t discussed openly at yesterday’s official announcement! Could there even be an attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records with more than 10,000 drummers on hand for the opening ceremony?
