Cher update: Missed performances add up to nearly $2 million in losses; back Tuesday

Cher is out of action for the rest of 2008.

Luxe Life can now confirm that Cher has had to miss four performances this week due to illness. Industry experts believe that it adds up to a near $2-million loss.

Doctors told her not to work the Tuesday and Wednesday shows. She was "dark" Thursday night and again last night -- but hopes for her to return this evening (Saturday) were dashed when she was again advised not to perform.

Although no explanation of the illness has yet been released, Caesars Palace executives hope she will be able to keep her promise to return this coming Tuesday.

Here's the official statement from the Concerts West producers at Caesars Palace sent to me late last night (Friday):

“We regret to inform you that Cher is ill and performances for Saturday, September 27 and Sunday, September 28 have been cancelled.

Cher is expected to return to her previously scheduled performances beginning Tuesday, September 30.

Ticket holders for the cancelled performances have the following options for exchange or refund:

TICKET EXCHANGE

Ticket holders may exchange tickets for a future performance of Cher at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace (subject to availability). To exchange for a future performance, ticket holders must turn in the actual tickets at The Colosseum Box Office, or call Ticketmaster (if that was the original point of purchase) at 1-866-510-CHER (2437).

TICKET REFUNDS

Those who purchased tickets with a credit card for the cancelled performance will be automatically refunded. Those who purchased tickets with cash may present tickets at the original point of sale for a refund. Ticket holders who purchased through Ticketmaster may call 1-866-510-CHER (2437).

Ticket holders will not need to redeem tickets for a refund unless purchased with cash at The Colosseum Box Office. Any cash transactions will only be refunded with the redemption of the original tickets. All credit card orders will automatically be refunded to the credit card used for purchase.

Cher, Concerts West/AEG and Caesars Palace apologize for the inconvenience that this causes ticket holders.

Please note that Cher, The Colosseum, Ticketmaster, Caesars Palace, and Concerts West/AEG Live are not responsible for hotel, travel or other expenses related to the cancellation of this performance.”
