Strip Scribbles: Lindsay Lohan checks into the Palms, Vegas Prom party tonight

Quick hits today because of my three-day working weekend for charity in Los Angeles:

*Which star-restaurateur on the Strip possibly has reunited with his ex-wife? It follows a freak motorcycle accident in which he broke both of his ankles when the “hog” wound up falling on top of him and pinning him until medics arrived.

*Say it's not so! Is a major hotel construction project in serious trouble because the tower hasn’t been correctly constructed? Heavy rumors from construction companies involved in the fiasco indicate a $600 million fix because the rebars haven’t been installed fully and properly. Experts are saying the entire hotel may have to come down if a “major haircut trim” from the top floors down to where the rebars are needed doesn’t pass muster! Expect this to become hard news within six weeks but remember you heard it here first because the company executives involved are trying to keep the major error under wraps!

*Happy to report that 40 Las Vegas restaurants wound up being listed in the brand new 2008 Zagat Guide to America’s Top Restaurants city-by-city. Tied in the No. 1 spot are two off-Strip favorites, Rosemary’s and Lotus of Siam just outranking by only one point Michael Mina, Nobu Matsuhisa and Andre Rochat!

*Here are new photos of the three Dancing with the Stars contestants Luxe Life is tracking. The first night of the second week of ABC-TV shows gets underway again in primetime from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. tonight with hometown singing star Toni Braxton, regular visitor Lance Bass and Vegas reality show regular Kim Kardashian. She is dangerously near the “kick-off” point. The results show is tomorrow and we’ll see if Kim stays or goes!

*As predicted here in Friday’s Luxe Life, actress Lindsay Lohan did turn up with the girl she’s going to marry, DJ Samantha Ronson, at the Palms resort hotel. They checked into one of owner George Maloof’s Fantasy Tower suites and Li-Lo remained out of sight while Samantha performed her post midnight DJ duties in the Rain nightclub. The lovers admitted last week they are “in a serious relationship” and planned to marry under California’s same-sex marriage laws. The twosome will be back in Vegas in November but won’t be in such hiding-mode as they will appear together then at Pure nightclub in Caesars Palace.

Tonight's tip

It’s the fourth-annual Vegas Prom party! The red carpet champagne reception begins at 8 p.m. and continues on from 9 p.m. to midnight at the Bare topless-optional adult pool at the Mirage – and then moves over to Jet nightclub for the after party. That means dancing till dawn. One lucky lady from the 20 hopefuls totters home in high heels with the crown to wear for 12 months! ... Hosting at Prive nightclub’s Money for Nothing party at the Planet Hollywood resort casino is ?uestlove, the Roots drummer and record producer who will play hip-hop as guest DJ twisting the turntables along with firing the cannon of greenbacks! He’s also releasing a special collaborative T-shirt available to partygoers.

Tomorrow's tease

I’m heading home from a busy weekend in Los Angeles with the full photo report of celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck’s American Food & Wine festival for which I was MC and conducted last night’s famous chef grand tasting dinner and auction. Dozens of Vegas VIP’s and star chefs jetted over for the Meals on Wheels benefit, which raised close to a staggering $2 million during the three-days of events.
