Million$ in super cars and model trains up for auction

By Robin Leach

We are just 15 days away from the opening of the largest collectors car and model train auction ever held in Vegas – and as our photos show it's going to be the ultimate doozy! Collectors are expected from across the globe to bid on everything from iconic vintage racecars to fully functional scale model trains.

“We’ve begun the countdown to our first Vegas automotive lifestyle event,” said Craig Jackson, CEO and chairman of the world famous Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. “Following two earlier stellar auctions in Palm Beach and Scottsdale where sales totaled more than $111 million we’ve arranged the finest and perfect mix of vehicles for our final 2008 event here in Vegas. It will be a rousing experience that enthusiasts expect from us with the added dynamic that only Vegas can deliver.”

The centerpiece highlight will undoubtedly be the sale of Carroll Shelby’s first racecar, a 1949 MG that he drove to victory in 1952. It is ranked as one of the most valuable sports cars in the world. It all gets underway on Oct. 15 at Mandalay Bay and runs through Oct. 18 -- and Luxe Life will be there for every thrilling moment. The TV coverage will be aired on the Speed Network.
