Comedy star David Spade begins a limited engagement at The Venetian
By Robin Leach
Actor and comedian David Spade has three weekends of dates set this month on his return to The Venetian -- and another one immediately following in May! The limited-engagement run kicks off tonight, and he’ll host his VIP welcome home party there tomorrow evening.
David, known for his sarcastic sense of humor and cutting one-liners, was a standup comedian on the traveling nightclub circuit before he joined Saturday Night Live in 1990. He went on to appear in 127 episodes, writing 59 of them and receiving three Emmy Award nominations. He was on the long-running show alongside Adam Sandler, Chris Rock and the late Chris Farley.
David starred in the sitcoms Just Shoot Me and 8 Simple Rules … for Dating My Teenage Daughter and is currently in his third season of Rules of Engagement, which is produced by comic pal Adam for CBS.

The dates for his 75-minute show based on real-life situations that become his comedy routines are today through Saturday, April 9-11, April 30-May 2 and May 7-9. I last talked with him on New Year’s Eve, but I’m set to chat with him again tomorrow evening. David, who grew up in Phoenix, is a big supporter of the Phoenix Police Department in their war against Mexican drug cartels. He just donated 50 rifles to the PPD because there weren’t sufficient funds in the budget to purchase them.
